We’re back from a couple weeks hiatus to head to Silverado
Resort and Spa in Napa, California for the Frys.com Open. This course is a hair shy of 6,800
yards. It’s par 72, featuring 4 par 3s
& 4 par 5s.

My
Favorites
·
Justin
Thomas ($9,300) – Thomas projects to score the 2nd highest 1
round total and Vegas has him finishing in 6th place. He’s 17th on the tour with strokes
gained tee-to-green, he’s 7th on the tour in eagle rate and he’s 6th
on the tour in birdie average. With the
DraftKings scoring system, those stats add up to a big fantasy score and, at
his price, he’s a great pick this weekend.
·
Rory
McIlroy ($12,800) – Rory is the betting favorite this weekend and projects
out to have the highest overall fantasy score.
He will be held in a large percentage of lineups and his cost reflects
that. If you’re confident in the lower
priced golfers in your lineup, you can definitely add Rory for the potential
winning upside.
·
Brooks
Koepka ($10,600) – I seem always to have Brooks in my favorites. He projects to have the highest 1 round score
and is projected to finish 4th by Vegas. Brooks leads the tour in eagle rate, ranks 27th
in birdie average and ranks 15th in total strokes gained. He’s always in my favorites and I don’t see
why he wouldn’t be this weekend.
·
Tony
Finau ($9,200) – Tony is projected to finish 5th this weekend by
Vegas and that contributes a lot to his value, given his price point. He ranks 7th in birdie average, 40th
in eagle rate and 36th in total strokes gained. He’s not a bad price and if he can perform up
to Vegas standards, he’ll be a nice fit in your lineup.
My Dislikes
·
Charl
Schwartzel ($8,700) – Charl is projected to finish 8th by Las
Vegas odds and he rates to score almost 72 fantasy points (tune in later for
full projections & lineup). He ranks
123rd in eagle rate, 82nd in birdie average and 102nd
in strokes gained. I’m not sure how he
got up to the 8th highest betting odds, but I’m staying away from
him this weekend.
·
Hunter
Mahan ($8,600) – Hunter is projected to finish 12th by the
bookmakers and he rates to score 70 fantasy points. He ranks 108th in eagle rate, 103rd
in birdie average and 95th in total strokes gained. You can find better value elsewhere at the
Frys.com open.
Stay tuned for full projections and optimal lineup later
today. Good luck this weekend and ABI.
