PGA Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Post #1 – Our Picks

Our optimal lineup last week fell short (finishing with 362.5 fpts in 77,102nd place).  The second best projected lineup fared much better with a 500.5 fpts (thanks to Brendan Steele) and finished in 2,719th place for $12.

This week, we’re heading to one of my favorite places, Las Vegas, for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.  Once you get through that mouthful of words, you’ll find this course (TPC Summerlin) is a par 72 at just over 7,200 yards.

As always, the salary information used is from DraftKings, if you don’t have an account, sign up here.  In addition, the statistics and betting odds used to generate my projections are found on the PGA Tour website and Paddy Power, respectively.

Stay tuned later this week (Wednesday) for the second post containing the full projections and optimal lineup.

Our Favorites
·        Brooks Koepka ($10,900) – Before I start my love/hate with Rickie Fowler, I’d like to start with a golfer who always lands in my favorites.  Brooks projects to score the highest 1 round total and the betting odds have him finishing 2nd.  He edges out Rickie Fowler in Birdie or Better for all hole types.  He’s my favorite every week and he should become yours.

·        Will Wilcox ($8,200) – Wilcox had a rough week last week, getting cut and finishing with 31 fpts.  He should be held a less percentage than last week, however his stats are relatively unchanged.  He projects to score the 2nd highest one round score and for $8,200, he’s a slam dunk.

·        Rickie Fowler ($12,200) – Rickie is the betting favorite this weekend and, because of that, he’s projected to score 100.33 fpts.  He’s one of the best putters on tour and if he holds true to Vegas’ projections, he should have a strong weekend.  The downside with Fowler is he’s pricey and I expect he’ll be held by a lot of the betting public.

·        Pat Perez ($6,600) – Another cheap pick to fill out your lineup is Pat Perez.  He’s projected by Vegas to finish 45th and he projects to score the 11th highest one round score.  He’s a great value pick to fill out your lineups in GPPs or cash.

Dislikes
·        Kevin Na ($10,400) – Kevin Na is rated to finish 3rd by the betting odds.  By my projections, he has the 22nd highest one round score.  You’re paying for a top 3 finish and you’ll be getting a top 20 golfer.  He’s overpriced, stay away.

Stay tuned on Wednesday for full projections and optimal lineup.  Good luck this weekend and ABI.
